Nutmeg is a women's football brand that aims to not only raise the status of women's football but also increase gender equality in football. The brand is founded on an imaginary personality of a young female football player named Louise Sage, who had difficulties finding her place in a sphere dominated by males. Nutmeg wanted to create a visual and interactive site which could be utilized to demonstrate the achievements, stories and contributions of women in football.
Challenge & Solution
There were two significant problems with Nutmeg's online presence: the old and slow website and no visual appeal. The slow loading of the former site did not support the user experience and interaction, and the lack of dynamism in the design of the old site did not reflect the enthusiasm and vitality of female football. To address these concerns, Nutmeg needed a total digital overhaul, a new platform with a powerful vision, interactivity, and current functionality capable of connecting with their audience and projecting their mission.
Our Process
Research
We started by knowing the vision of Nutmeg to empower women in the field of football and researching what the audience needed in sport-related digital platforms. This assisted us in finding areas of immersive narration and involving aspects that would distinguish Nutmeg.
Concept Design
Our design team imagined a new design of a website that had a bold visual and was easy to navigate and dynamic. A unique 3D mascot character was created to represent the vitality and the strength of female football players, and banners and other visuals are geared towards the identity and mission of Nutmeg.
Implementation
The user-friendly interface and responsiveness design were created and a modern WordPress site was developed. A brand visual icon was created in the form of a custom 3D character, backed by a high-impact 3D video on the home page that embodied the essence and competence of women in football. There was also the creation of engaging banners on the comics page to add some vibrancy and increase storytelling. All of these aspects provided a unifying, empowering online resource.
Result Driven
The partnership provided Nutmeg with a refreshed Internet image that was successfully used to advertise women's football. The new site had better speed, accessibility and design, attracting more visitors and prompting them to interact further. The original 3D mascot and video impressed long-term, emotional appeal to the viewers, and strengthened the mission of empowering Nutmeg. These improvements have greatly increased the level of digital presence and brand awareness of Nutmeg and reinforced the image of a brand that promotes gender equality in sports.
